Lakeland Skating Program

Coach Jessica is a Lakeland Skating Club alumna with over 34 years of skating experience and more than 22 years of coaching. She earned her Gold Skating Skills and Gold Singles tests after competing through the Senior Ladies level.

Jessica coaches skaters of all ages and abilities, from first-time skaters to Gold test athletes, as well as competitive figure skaters and hockey players from beginner through AAA and high school levels.

As Director of the Lakeland Skating Program, she is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where every skater can grow. She also helped launch Lakeland's adaptive skating program in partnership with Easterseals MORC and The Miracle League of Michigan.

Jessica believes skating is about more than technical skills. Her goal is to help athletes build confidence, resilience, and a lasting passion for skating while developing the character and work ethic that extends beyond the ice.

Coach Chloe brings a unique combination of elite performance experience, technical coaching, and athlete development in both figure skating and hockey to Lakeland Arena. A former professional skater with Disney on Ice, Chloe was trained by her mother, a former 1984 Olympian and professional show skater. After competing throughout her youth, Coach Chloe toured internationally with Disney on Ice for years, performing in over 500 shows across 15 countries while developing the discipline, artistry, and resilience that continue to shape her coaching today. Coach Chloe works with skaters of all ages and abilities, from first-time Learn to Skate participants through competitive athletes and high school team members.

As a private coach,  she specializes in skating skills, performance quality, choreography, power and edge development, and uplifting athletes confidence both on the ice and personal life.

In addition to private coaching, Coach Chloe serves as Lakeland Arenas Learn to Skate and ASPIRE Coordinator as well as Head Coach of the Lakes Area High School Figure Skating Team, where she is passionate about developing the next generation of skaters.

Coach Chloe believes the lessons learned through skating extend far beyond the rink. Her goal is to create a positive, encouraging environment where every athlete feels supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential while developing resilience, and a lifelong love of the sport.

Coach Austin brings over 10 years of skating experience to Lakeland Arena, including eight years competing at the U.S. Figure Skating qualifying level. A four-time Regional medalist and four-time Sectional competitor, Austin finished in the top 10 at the 2020 U.S. Singles Final and the 2019 National Qualifying Series. Following his competitive career, he performed professionally as a cast member with Disney On Ice on the 2021–2022 Mickey and Friends U.S. tour.

Both PSA and SafeSport Certified, Coach Austin has been involved with Learn to Skate programs for over a decade and has co-taught developmental skating skills and power skating with St. Louis-area hockey programs. He coaches skaters of all ages and abilities, specializing in jumps, pole harness training, power skating, spins, choreography, off-ice training, and U.S. Figure Skating Skating Skills.

Coach Austin is passionate about helping skaters achieve their goals by building strong fundamentals, refining technique, and developing  a positive mindset both on and off the ice.

Johanna Berger is an ice dancer with 14 years of skating experience and a passion for introducing new skaters to the sport.

As a Learn to Skate instructor and private coach, she works with Snowplow Sam, Basic 1–5, beginner hockey players, and adult skaters. She enjoys creating a fun, encouraging environment where skaters can build confidence and celebrate every accomplishment along the way.

Coach Hollie has been a dedicated member of U.S. Figure Skating for most of her life and has been an integral part of Lakeland Arena since graduating high school. Over the past four decades, she has served as Director of the Lakeland Skating Program, Ice Show Director, Learn to Skate Coordinator, Lakes Area High School Team Head Coach, and private coach to countless athletes.

As a skater, Hollie earned Double Gold Medals in Figures and Freeskate, along with Silver Medals in Pairs and Ice Dance. Her coaching experience spans every stage of development, from first-time skaters to senior-level competitors, including regional, sectional, and adult national athletes and champions.

Known for her commitment to both athletic achievement and personal growth, Hollie has guided generations of figure skaters and hockey players while fostering confidence, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for the sport. Her enduring dedication has helped shape the Lakeland skating community for over 40 years.

Karen Felice brings over 30 years of coaching experience and a lifelong passion for developing skaters of all ages and abilities. As a former competitive figure skater and synchronized skater, Karen competed in U.S. Figure Skating regional freestyle events, earned a Senior National Gold Medal in synchronized skating, won medals in international synchronized skating competitions, and performed in numerous ice shows, including with the Southfield Ice Company.

Coach Karen teaches beginner through competitive skaters in Singles and U.S. Figure Skating Skating Skills through the Gold level. She also has extensive experience coaching synchronized skating, helping teams successfully compete through the national level. Her focus is on building fundamentals, skating skills, confidence, and a personal connection to skating.

Karen earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Training and Development from Oakland University. She combines her educational background with decades of coaching experience to create a encouraging, supportive learning environment where every skater is encouraged to reach their full potential both on and off the ice. 

Madeleine Rose Gallagher is a professional figure skater, dance educator, and choreographer with over two decades of experience in the performing arts. A six-time U.S. National Pairs competitor and 2012 U.S. Intermediate Pairs National Champion, she has earned Gold Moves in the Field and Gold Pairs, along with Pre-Gold Free Skate and Ice Dance test credentials.

From 2016–2020, Madeleine toured internationally with Feld Entertainment’s Disney On Ice, performing across North and South America, Europe, and the Middle East while portraying beloved characters including Snow White, Belle, Ariel, Princess Anna, Tinker Bell, and Nala. In 2021, she served as Figure Skating Director, Choreographer, and Lead Pair Skater for Spirited, starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell.

Certified through Dance Masters of America Madeleine has taught and choreographed a wide range of dance styles, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Modern, and Acro, and is passionate about inspiring the next generation of performers through strong technique, artistry, and confidence.

Irina Kortchach brings decades of professional skating and coaching experience to Lakeland Arena. A former Principal Skater with the Moscow Ballet on Ice and professional performer with Disney on Ice, she combines elite technical knowledge with exceptional artistry developed through an international skating career.

Irina coaches skaters of all ages and abilities, specializing in singles skating, skating skills, and competitive program development. She creates personalized training plans and choreographs programs that showcase each skater's strengths while helping them build confidence, technique, and performance quality. She also serves as Lead Choreographer for Lakeland Arena's ice shows, designing memorable productions that inspire both participants and audiences.

Irina is passionate about helping every skater reach their full potential. Through meaningful coaching, technical excellence, and creative expression, she strives to develop confident athletes who are dedicated to the journey of skating!​

Andre Torossian is an Honorary Member of the Lakeland Skating Club and has been coaching at Lakeland Arena for over 30 years following his professional skating career. Throughout his decades at the rink, Andre has become a trusted coach and an integral part of Lakeland's skating community.

Andre coaches skaters of all ages and abilities, specializing in figure skating jumps, spins, harness and pole harness training, and U.S. Figure Skating Skating Skills. In addition to private coaching, he serves as the Sound Engineer for Lakeland's ice shows, coordinates program music for testing and competitions, and finally he also helps produce group performances during show season.

Known for his technical expertise and years of experience, Andre takes pride in keeping athletes engaged when helping skaters build strong fundamentals while supporting the success of Lakeland's skating programs.

Coach Elena is a U.S. Figure Skating National Coach and Master-Rated Freestyle Coach with over 30 years of coaching experience. A former soloist with both Moscow Ballet on Ice and Disney on Ice for more than 10 years, Elena combines elite technical expertise with a strong artistic foundation developed throughout her professional skating career.

Elena coaches skaters of all ages and abilities, from beginner through national-level competitors. She has developed regional, sectional, and U.S. national competitors and medalists in both freestyle and pairs. Specializing in skating skills, choreography, jumps, and spins, Elena creates technically strong and artistically compelling programs tailored to each skater's individual goals.

Elena believes in her skaters potential to achieve success through dedication, quality training, and a positive coaching environment. Her goal is to help athletes build confidence, refine their skills, and reach their highest potential.

Coach Serguei is a World and Olympic Coach and a U.S. Figure Skating Master-Rated Coach in Freestyle and Pairs with over 30 years of coaching experience. Throughout his career, he has developed regional, sectional, and U.S. national champions and medalists, earning a reputation for technical excellence and athlete development at every level of the sport.

Serguei coaches skaters of all ages and abilities, from beginner through elite competitive athletes. He specializes in skating skills, jumps, spins, freestyle, and pairs, providing personalized instruction that builds strong technical foundations and prepares skaters for successful competition. In addition to coaching, Serguei serves as a National Technical Specialist in Singles and Pairs, bringing extensive technical expertise to every lesson.

Serguei believes that success is built through discipline, consistency, and attention to detail. His goal is to help each skater reach their highest potential by developing confidence, strong technique, and a lifelong passion for the sport.

Coach Roni brings elite international competitive experience to Lakeland Arena. A 2018 Olympian, World Championship competitor, and two-time European Championship competitor (2017–2018), Roni has competed at the highest levels of figure skating, gaining the technical knowledge and performance experience that he now shares with his students.

Roni coaches skaters of all ages and abilities, helping athletes develop strong fundamentals, refine their technique, and build confidence on the ice. Drawing from his international experience, he specializes in helping skaters improve their technical skills while developing the consistency and discipline needed to reach their goals.
